Sleep. It’s the black sheep when it comes to overall wellness. The person who sleeps enough is the person who isn’t doing enough. You can sleep when you’re dead. That’s how it goes, right? Well actually, the people who get adequate rest are a little bit smarter than you think, and in the end, they will be healthier and more effective as a result of the “unnecessary” rest they get.
While it’s true that you can’t work while you sleep, your body requires it. Every wonder why you’re so irritable, why you can’t lose those extra pounds or why your skin isn’t as clear as you want it to be? Maybe, just maybe, it’s the impact that your nightly three hours of sleep is having on you. It’s happening, and you don’t even realize it. Many important body functions occur when we give ourselves the time needed to rest.
This is something we talk about all the time…inflammation. And guess what, getting enough sleep can help reduce the amount in your body, which also decreases your risk of heart attack, stroke, diabetes, and the list goes on!
Fitness is our thing. We want you to be able to perform at your best during your workouts. If you’re skimping on sleep, however, you’ll never get there. Your body just won’t allow it to happen.
